Welcome to the Women Who Win Empower Podcast! My guest today is Victoria (Vix) Browne, author, coach, and founder of Neville House Publishing.
WWWE 016: In this episode, Vix shares her story of living with dyslexia but not letting it stop her from living her dream of becoming a writer. Now, a fitness coach, author of four books, and a writing coach, she tells how her determination and self-publishing helped her achieve her dream.
More About Victoria (Vix) Browne
She was born and raised in south London. Her love for writing blossomed in 2012 when she published her first novel 'Gut Feeling' after a long struggle with dyslexia. With a great deal of determination, Victoria has not let anything hold her back. She has also written the “Third Time Lucky” series and is working on a new mystery fiction novel. Her areas of expertise include self-publishing, writing, book marketing, self-motivation, people management, and fitness.
“As a child, I would dream of becoming a writer but sadly dyslexia hindered this dream. I left school at age 15. At age 25, I sought help for my dyslexia, going on to teach myself to read. I worked in London as a nurse before moving into the world of real estate. During this time, I qualified as a mortgage broker and eventually opened my own real estate agency, which I sold in 2012.
Society led me to believe that all writers were good at English, and yet I couldn’t spell. So why would any publisher take me on. And then I realized that I could be the publisher! I am dyslexic and always will be. However, this did not stop me from writing and self- publishing. I put together a professional team so that I can do what I do best, be creative, and they can do what they do best.
Be proud of your strengths and accept help for your weaknesses gracefully!Stronger together!”
Vix resides in California with her husband.
